Water splashes as arms smack against it

Chains rattle up a storm as bikers start their course

Now feet are pounding

Spectators hold their breath as the first two competitors

Advance towards the finish line

They are running as if a fire is at their heels

Time stands still

The last few strides to the finish line take forever

The competitors come close to, then across, the finish line

Together, breaking the tape

Spectators are tense, waiting for the results
